Well, placing ads in newspapers or holding events won’t build you a list unless you have a way to gather contact information from people. Putting a coupon in the newspaper won’t get you names unless you ask for it when they come to your venue. Actually, regardless of how you get them there, you still must ask for their contact information in person.

Asking for their contact information requires that all of your staff be trained in how to ask and then you have to manually transfer written information into a database of some sort.
